SHANTI FUND PEACE ART COMPETITION

for

GANDHI JAYANTI CELEBRATION - 2010

PROMOTING AND CELEBRATING A CULTURE OF PEACE

 

Volunteers of Shanti Fund invite youngsters of all ages from schools or organizations to participate in a Peace Art Competition.

 

THEME – PEACE ON THE PLANET

 

SIZE – All art work must be either 8-1/2” x 11” or 11” x 17” in size.

 

CATEGORIES – Entries will be judged in three groups:

Elementary school:        1 - 5 grade level          (5 to 9 years of age)

Middle school:              6 - 8 grade level          (10 to 12 years of age)

High school:                  9 - 12 grade levels       (13 t0 17 years of age)

 

Each school district may have art prepared by the students and submit only the six best pieces of artwork for the competition.  It could be a combination of all grade levels.

 

One prize in each category will be awarded in the form of a gift card of $141 along with a certificate.  An additional three pieces of artwork will be selected in each category for an honorable mention.  They will receive a certificate and may have an opportunity for their entry to appear in the 2011. Shanti Fund calendar.  All winners will be invited to a special ceremony to be held at the Suffolk County Executive's office as in the previous years.

 

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS

  • Art work can be created using any medium – color pencils, pastels, paint, etc. Photography and computer graphics will be accepted.  It may include pertinent quotes.
  • Winning artwork, as well as those items selected for publication in the calendar, become the property of Shanti Fund.  The rest will be returned as soon as possible.
  • The Shanti Fund art competition label must be attached to the back of the art work.  Label information is below.

 

Art work must be submitted no later than September 27, 2010. Earlier submissions are certainly appreciated.
